Libby O's Management Mastery

Course Outline

Session 1

Your #1 People Management Tool

Rarely a week goes by when I don’t hear a middle manager say, “Managing people is the hardest part of my job.”

Even after 30-odd years of managing staff, I wholeheartedly agree – and you are not alone, my friend!

Our first module will help you dial down the guess work and dial up your success rate. It’s a formula that takes the blind dart-throwing out of managing your team, your clients, your manager… even your friends and family.

I’ll share with you a set of rail road tracks that will guide you to answers. Answers that will address most of your people problems. You will soon see a noticeable difference with HR issues, engagement, efficiency, delegation, effectiveness, your capacity to influence situations, your negotiating skills and everyone’s stress levels.

Who knows? It may even show you a side of yourself you didn’t know existed.

Session 2

Engaging Teams

Have you ever said this to a fellow manager (through gritted teeth)? “My team are all clock watchers.”

When your staff aren’t engaged, it makes coming to work a complete bore! And an inefficient and costly one, at that.

But being engaged is not compulsory. As the manager, you can’t demand happiness, commitment or even interest. But there are some tips and tricks to nudge it along!

I want to harness an intuition you already have – one that will get your team committed and involved, without you needing to stand over them, perpetually wagging your finger.

I want you to understand why people disengage, so you can secretly hit the re-engage button each and every time.

Session 3

Having Difficult Conversations With Direct Reports and Senior Managers

Raise your hand if having a respectful disagreement was taught at your School of Life?

Disagreeing with people is a big fat cultural no-no in our society. It’s sold as wrong, rude, a battle to be feared, egotistical, narcissistic and smack-bang against most of our values.

It’s little wonder that most of us find disagreement so excruciatingly daunting and are so, so bad at it – but really, this is a part of life we can’t avoid.

Badly managed confrontations can be a major deal breaker.

They can affect people’s lives and families, impact business operations, reduce team effectiveness and cost extraordinary amounts of time and money if left to escalate to the courts. (And I promise you don’t want that.)

Borrowed from an age-old industry, there’s a super easy way to turn a confrontation into a win-win casual chat – and no, you won’t have to fake it!

This rock-solid technique will serve you well in the strangest of places. 100%.

Session 4

Confidence

Two managers of equal IQ, equal education and equal opportunity can have vastly different outcomes. But why?

Because they differ in their mindset.

This will be the session where you get double the bang for your buck!

I’m going to don both my hats – life coach and corporate coach – so we can delve into how mindset is at the heart of confidence and how you can stop second guessing yourself all the time.

When you understand what creates confidence, you’ve got both the recipe and the ingredients to mix a new cake. But unless you’ve got the foundations, it’s like having the eggs, flour, butter and a glossy picture on Instagram – but no instructions or tools to recreate that irresistible looking, shut-up and let me at it, naughty Nigella necessity.

Mud pies for dessert – again!

With my confidence recipe, you can influence your own confidence, as well work with the confidence level of those around you. From the newbie team member, to the office narcissist, to the unsure client.
